What are the responsibilities and job description for the Baseball/Softball Field Manager position at Yorktown Junior Athletic Association?
Overview
Yorktown JAA is seeking multiple field staff for the 2025 season, which will run from March - November. The schedule will primarily be Monday-Friday late afternoons/evenings, with the occasional weekend. This position could be for internship credit if needed.
Yorktown JAA is one of the largest recreational leagues in the area with over 500 athletes playing teeball, softball and baseball leagues. The league also sponsors approximately 15 community-based travel teams.
Duties
· Field preparation for practices and games, and providing direction to other field crew members if needed
· Serving as the onsite Field Manager during league games, which will include:
o Ensuring umpires are working their assigned field
o Providing and retrieving game balls from umpires
o Providing and retrieving score sheets including pitch counts from umpires
o Answering rules questions
o Determining if weather delays or cancelations are necessary
o Turning field lights on and off as needed
o Picking up litter throughout park
o Removing trash to dumpster at end of evening
o Locking restrooms and storage areas
o Alerting board members if their immediate attention is needed
· Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
· Experience in field preparation is desired but not required
· Umpiring experience is desired but not required
· Experience playing or coaching baseball or softball at the high school level is required
· Ability to work a flexible schedule that will be weather-dependent
· Ability to rake and lift up to 50 lbs is required

Pay: From $12.50 per hour
