Job Description
Summary:
Yorktown systems Group is seeking highly qualified India and Subcontinent Region Subject Matter Expert to provide professional services and support to the Foreign Military Studies Office (FMSO) of the TRADOC G-2. The TRADOC G-2 facilitates and acts as the principal enabler for continuous learning across all TRADOC lines of effort through acquiring, analyzing, creating, organizing, applying and transferring data, information, and knowledge in the context of current and future operations. The G-2 is responsible for delivering the Operating Environment to facilitate the training of deploying units on joint, national and interagency information, emerging asymmetric capabilities gleaned from world-wide operations; integrating processes, practices, concepts and materiel capabilities into Joint and Service DOTMLPF solutions; and coordinating with the training centers to provide realistic enemy and environmental signatures into models and simulations in support of realistic training.
The Foreign Military Studies Office produces the Operational Environment Watch (OE Watch) journal. OE Watch is a monthly, open-source foreign media digest that focuses on understudied and unconsidered foreign perspectives of defense and security issues. OE Watch is unclassified and distributed publicly on the FMSO website. The period of performance for this position is 1 November 2020 - 8 September 2021, and the period of the SME/Author's work should support production for the September 2020 through September 2021 issues of OE Watch.
Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Participate as a Subject Matter Expert and Author on security issues principally focused on India, but also including the subcontinent region. The Author will produce three articles per monthly issue of OE Watch in accordance with FMSO-provided article submission guidelines and timelines.
- Research unconsidered and understudied defense and security issues from foreign open sources that may include journals, newspapers, television, radio, books, and electronic media relative to operational environment and global security issues.
- Translate short, representative sections of the foreign language research material.
- Write 300β500-word commentary that describes the article's importance and insight into the operational environment.
- Provide copyright-free visual support and proper image attribution for each article, which may include pictures, graphics, etc.
- An alternative research paper or other product may be required in place of OE Watch articles.
- This is a Part Time position, not to exceed 20 hours per month.
