Description

Summary:

Yorktown Systems Group is seeking a highly qualified Technical and Resource Support Specialist to support FORSCOM Language and Culture program that is creative and flexible to meet the unique instruction needs of commanders requiring language and/or culture related capabilities for their personnel. The program's courses/training events do not have rigid Programs of Instruction (POIs) but rather use the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) proficiency level descriptions, as well as current theories and teaching methodologies in the fields of Second Language Acquisition (SLA) and Adult & Continuing Education, as a framework for the development of POIs, lesson plans, activities, etc.

Specific Duties May Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Support includes being prepared to be on ground to support units with the appropriate level of knowledge/expertise/tools and providing guidance/ assistance to FORSCOM units to ensure continuity of effort.
  • Provide customer service, administrative support, and resource/facilities functions.
  • Provide support to staff and instructors with such administrative functions as copying support, typing, duplication of classroom materials such as audio and video tapes, training aids and classroom set up and tear down, arranging for supplies, training aid support and other tasks of this nature.
  • Schedule facilities and distance learning delivery to include monitoring the use of the computer lab/language lab.
  • Control and maintain an extensive inventory of materials, publications and equipment.
  • Generate reports on attendance, inventories, scheduling, etc.
  • Provide expertise in commonly applied automation and information systems operating principles. Excepting NEC networks, the Contractor shall administer the Local Area Network for each location that they are assigned. This includes ensuring that all information systems comply with upgrades, backups, and security requirements mandated by the local NEC.
  • Install and configure internal and external in-out devices such as scanners, printers, and keyboards.
  • Provide expertise in Automated Visual (AV) technologies, general multi-media equipment, interactive whiteboards and touchscreens, language lab equipment, CD burners, scanners, satellite communications equipment, digital cameras and digital video cameras, video capture software and hardware utilities and sound recording equipment and software, etc.
  • Provide expertise in the installation and use of typical office software, such as the MS Office suite of products, data management program, educational and foreign language software; particularly experience with installation and use of foreign fonts.
  • Provide expertise in managing and maintaining a web site, using current HTML-based authoring tools. Configures and manages language learning telecommunications links comprised of satellite television broadcasts, teleconferencing, video conferencing and Internet distance learning program.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Expertise in commonly applied automation and information systems operating principles. Practical working knowledge of computer systems, hardware and software, networks and the ability to configure and troubleshoot the hardware and software. Ability to administer a Local Area Network (LAN) and comply with all upgrades, data back-ups, and security requirements mandated by the local COR and/or the Network Enterprise Center (NEC) at each military installation.
  • Expertise in the setup, installation, and use of computer peripherals, Audio/Visual (A/V) equipment, general multi-media equipment, interactive whiteboards and touchscreens, DVD/CD burners, scanners, printers, satellite communications equipment, digital cameras and digital video cameras, video capture software and hardware utilities, sound recording equipment and software, etc.; and ability to teach others how to operate equipment as required.
  • Expertise in the installation and use of typical office software, such as the MS Office suite of products, data management programs, educational and foreign language software; particularly experience with installation and use of foreign fonts. Ability to review and test software packages for potential use in projects and operations. Ability to stay up to date on computer technology and recommend upgrades and new equipment to the COR, as necessary.
  • Expertise with authoring software to include: the ability to design webpages for web-based lessons, develop and use templates, import audio and video media, creating hyperlinks and linking sound files, editing technological aspects of lessons, creating navigation tools and strategies, manipulating foreign fonts and using font development software, developing keyboard layouts for foreign fonts when necessary. Assist all staff, teachers and students with computer/technology and related technological issues.
  • Expertise in managing and maintaining a web site, using current HTML-based authoring tools, configuring and managing language learning telecommunications links comprised of satellite television broadcasts, teleconferencing, video conferencing and Internet distance learning programs.

Clearance: Required to possess and maintain a favorably adjudicated National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) investigation

Location: FT Bragg

Travel: Required to travel CONUS and OCONUS (Hawaii, Alaska, and US Territories)
