Brief Description / Position Summary
The color guard performs as part of the marching band at home football games and away competitions. The role of the Color Guard Assistant is to work with students and staff on the field during rehearsals. The instructor will be engaged in providing support to students for their visual responsibilities (i.e. learning drill) and learning choreography. The Color Guard Assistant position will also be responsible for helping in the logistics of supervision of students and equipment when traveling to performances off campus. The Color Guard Assistant will be expected to be at all rehearsals and performances.
SKILLS: Organizational skills and initiative for working with minimal direct supervision. Must show evidence of strong leadership and organizational skills.
KNOWLEDGE: Previous successful experience in color guard is preferred. Substantial knowledge in the area of student support, color guard instruction, as well as familiarity with student discipline and safety protocols.
ABILITY: Establish and maintain positive and supportive working relationships with all stakeholders to be flexible and change as needed.
Stipend Range: $2,970-$4,977 based on experience

- Assists Head Color Guard Coach and Marching Band team to work within a budget and follows district fundraising procedures
- Help organize all uniforms and equipment.
- Transition equipment at beginning and end of marching season
- Assist in Write & teach choreography
- Teach and re-write drills as needed
- Rehearse four times a week from August 1 - October 30 Assist in designing visual effects
- Ride bus to and from away festivals if needed
- Support color guard students throughout school year
- Write, teach, and perform stand jams at home football games
- Maintains attendance records for meetings and events
- Recruits student participants each school year
- Manages and supervises the use of facilities and confirms security of the facilities
- Ensures that students have a way to get home and remains present until the last student is released
- Promotes and publicizes color guard events
- Maintains positive relationships with students and interacts with students and adults in a respectful manner Collaborates with administration to maintain the vision of the Strategic Goals and purpose of the club/activity Uses appropriate channels to resolve concerns and problems
- Completes all training and certification required by the District
- Assists with writing college letters of recommendation for students per their request.
- Maintains a variety of documents including club's activity account budget, as applicable

- Instruct fall rehearsals daily, all home football games, and 4-5 away competitions
