Salary Range / Other
Placement on the Yosemite Community College District salary schedule dependent upon education and experience. 2024-2025 Salary Schedule – $77,880 to $145,384 per year or $91,436 to $148,321 with an earned doctorate. New personnel limited to a maximum tenth step initial placement based on previous experience – maximum equals $120,899 or $ $123,835 with an earned doctorate.

Benefits
The District currently pays for a health options for the employee and dependents. Employees may elect to pay a premium for a higher health option. Vision care and dental insurance premiums for the employee and dependents is District paid. Income protection and life insurance premiums for the employee are also District paid. The estimated cost of District provided benefits (health, dental, vision, and life) is $24,408 annually.

Required Quals Summary
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Possession of a master’s degree in any area from an accredited institution plus three years of online instructional implementation, design, or closely equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of learning theories, online learning principles, instructional delivery methods, and accreditation standards.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Canvas or other learning management systems.
  • Experience with online teaching and learning programs in education.

Job Description Summary
GENERAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
All full-time faculty are expected to participate actively in their disciplines, department activities, and the general intellectual life and governance of the college. Part of the assignment may be online, in the evening, and/or on Saturdays. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Advancing equitable student learning through designing and delivering training for high-quality, effective online education.
  • Providing training to address emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, and to increase online student retention, success, and persistence rates.
  • Providing training to address the needs of students from disproportionately impacted groups.
  • Developing, maintaining, and facilitating the faculty online certification process.
  • Creating course design templates, models, and tools.
  • Helping develop and coordinate online instruction programs, such as an Online Faculty Mentor program, Peer Online Course Review, accessibility review, and Course Design concierge services.
  • Collaborating with MJC Online Education Team members to coordinate and deliver college online initiatives.
  • Maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter area and effective teaching/learning strategies and participating in professional development activities, especially in connection with statewide and national initiatives and accreditation compliance requirements such as Guided Pathways, CVC-OEI, and Regular Substantive Interaction.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of emerging issues, technologies, and concerns under discussion in the profession nationally and internationally to meet the needs of all learning styles.
  • Maintaining membership and participating in professional organizations related to online education, such as CCCDECO (California Community College Distance Education Coordinator Organization).
  • Participating in professional development activities, both departmental and college-wide, especially those connected to closing disproportionate impact gaps and improving completion goals.
  • Engaging in the college’s participatory governance process by regularly attending department, division, and college-wide meetings.
  • Co-facilitating Online Education Committee meetings.
  • Serving as liaison to the Academic Senate for initiatives and issues related to online education and instructional technologies.
  • Through a shared organizational decision-making process, evaluating, recommending, and implementing solutions for program/course development, new design, technology adoption, initiatives, and other education-technology changes.
  • Using data to assess training and learning outcomes, and using the results for improvement.
  • Engaging in data inquiry and self-assessment to develop student success, persistence, and equity strategies.
  • Actively participating in accreditation, program review, and other long-term program improvement and planning cycles related to online instruction.
  • Providing support to deans and peer evaluators for online course evaluation.
  • Developing, implementing, and assessing learning outcomes for trainings and programs and using the results for improvement.
  • Engaging in data inquiry and self-assessment to develop strategies for student success, persistence, and equity.
  • Collaborating on developing and offering online student orientation materials.
  • Posting and holding sufficient and regular office hours, following prevailing policy.
  • Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.


PHYSICAL
AND MENTAL STANDARDS
  • Mobility: ability to sit or stand for long periods, move about an office, and reach above and below desk level.
  • Dexterity: fine manipulation sufficient to operate a keyboard, handle individual papers, write and take notes.
  • Lifting: occasional lifting of papers, files, equipment and material weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Visual Requirements: close vision sufficient to read files, documents, and computer screens and do close-up work; ability to adjust focus frequently.
  • Hearing/Talking: ability to hear normal speech, speak and hear on the telephone, and speak in person.

Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s degree in Education Technology, Instructional Design.
  • Completion of an accredited online teaching certification program or equivalent training within the community college system.
  • Education and/or experience teaching at the community college level, particularly in online instruction.
  • Current knowledge of theories, technologies, methods, and accreditation standards related to online instruction.
  • Current understanding of assessment processes for improving student success at the course, program, and degree level.
  • Competent in new pedagogies and emerging technologies, such as accelerated learning, supplemental instruction, and artificial intelligence, as they relate to online and other technology-enhanced pedagogies that improve student success and equity.
  • Experience using and promoting Open Educational Resources.
  • Understanding of online course accessibility issues and online copyright law.
  • Recent experience working with African American/Black, Hispanic, Native American, and other minoritized students in the classroom, and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion of these groups within higher education shape patterns of participation and outcomes;
  • Willingness to examine and remediate one’s instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students;
  • Experience and skill with addressing issues of equity in the classroom;
  • Experience and expertise in culturally responsive teaching in online modalities, especially as related to students’ lives, interests, and communities;
  • Demonstrated ability to address equity gaps within online coursework and the online classroom;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Hispanic-Serving designation for institutional, departmental, and instructional practices.
