What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Service Team Member position at Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad?
Purpose: To perform various general service and production duties in the operation of the food concession snack shop at the railroad. Food service team members staff the snack shop during open hours, interact with guests, prepare and serve food, and work alongside members of the food service team. Assist with making sales using a point of sale cash register. Help with inventory and stocking the kitchen. All food service functions allow the company to carry out its mission of interpreting the Sierra National Forest and preserving the historic railroad.
Time-frame: A schedule will be established for each food service worker within the railroad’s hours of operation. The ability to work weekends is desirable. Regular schedules and on-call schedules are both available options. Work shifts can vary from day to day, with later hours on Wednesdays and Saturdays in the summer months. This job is seasonal between the months of April to November.
Specific duties: Follow all food safety rules. Guest mealtime service includes serving guests and keeping the service area full, clean, and organized. Restocking shelves, receiving and properly putting orders away in correct storage areas. Food sales, point of sales cash register, and some retail sales. Cleaning, dish-washing, laundry, and garbage removal. In addition to being a food service team member, an ability to be a team player to the company and complete a variety of jobs as needed. Flexibility is greatly desirable.
Qualifications/Skills: Food handler certification. Will train. Outgoing, professional, and friendly disposition. Ability to communicate orally and answer questions accurately or seek assistance when required. Experience in food preparation, serving, and cooking are helpful. Use of tact and professionalism when dealing with the public. Ability to operate a point of sale cash register and make change.
