Yosemite Pathology (YP) is a private independent pathologist owned and operated surgical pathology and cytology laboratory based in Modesto, CA. YP provides comprehensive state of the art, reliable, and accurate diagnostic services to its physicians and major area hospitals in the Alameda, Amador, Calaveras, Contra Costa, Kern, Mariposa, Merced, San Joaquin, Solano, Stanislaus and Tuolumne counties.
YP offers a full spectrum of tissue pathology, cytology and histology services, including examination of gynecologic specimens, body fluids and fine needle aspiration specimens. We also offer an extensive array of special stains and immunohistochemistry to assist in the management of oncologic and non-oncologic diseases. The laboratory is supported by highly qualified Histotechnologist, Cytologist, Technicians and office staff who offer excellent service.
Summary/Objective
The File Clerk is responsible for maintaining and organizing slides and blocks for completed cases and preparing slides for quality control audits.
Essential Functions
- File slides and blocks
- Assist with pulling and locating slides and blocks
- Answer phones
- Perform shredding of purged documents
- Assist with various tasks involving filing, scanning, and organization of documentation
- Quarterly maintenance of archived slides and blocks and transfer to storage facility
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required (associate's degree preferred)
- Previous experience in a laboratory setting
- Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable, and ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to interact with employees in a professional manner
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Strong computer and applications skills
- Laboratory Information System experience a plus
Compensation and Benefits:
- The compensation is $43,680 annually (non-exempt, paid semi-monthly on an eight (8) hour per day, forty (40) hour per week. Final salary offer subject to multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, geographic location of the role, and current market data.

Work Environment
Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eye sight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Requires dexterity to type 60 wpm.
