With a dedicated focus on improving student outcomes, our school-level and network-level leadership is committed to supporting teachers in becoming transformative educators. Reporting to the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning, the Network Instructional Specialist supports all campuses in his/her leadership of the school’s academic program. While the exact responsibilities of this position may vary based on content and expertise, the Instructional Specialist works to achieve the academic priorities of the school. The Network Instructional Specialist works with the EDTL and CAO to drive the achievement of network goals by supporting teacher content development, creating resources to ensure quality instruction for all grades and building teacher leadership capacity within the schools. In this role, the network instructional specialist travels to all YACS schools to support the student outcomes in their content area of expertise.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized coaching to teachers and teacher leaders at multiple schools based on data, observation, and student work analysis.
  • Create scope and sequences for all grade levels within content and/or expertise.
  • Analyze multiple sources of data to determine network content need, support, and evaluation of goals.
  • Create and implement a long range plan for professional development for multiple schools within the same content area based on needs and goals determined through data analysis.
  • Plan and facilitate high quality network professional development aligned with state standards and HQIM.
  • Create benchmark and other progress monitoring assessments for content areas of expertise.
  • Support campus leadership teams with implementation of learning protocols for professional learning communities.
  • Participate in weekly Network Instructional Leadership Team Meetings
  • Create a plan of action to continue instruction for any content vacancies within a school
  • Create and implement formal coaching plans for teachers and teacher leaders
  • Progress monitor student outcomes via high stakes assessments and the weekly student dashboard.
  • Create and implement a plan of coherent instruction for all students includes, but not limited to, diverse learners, tiered instruction, and accelerated learners.

Communication

  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents, leadership, and other colleagues.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

Professional Conduct and Other

  • Exhibit professional judgment and responsibility at all times.
  • Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
  • Follow attendance policy as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Perform other functions that may be assigned by the Administration and/or supervisor.
  • Attend and participate in meetings, school events, and serve on staff committees as required.

Reports to:

  • Executive Director of Teaching and Learning

Required Qualifications

  • 3 years successful teaching experience
  • 2 years experience coaching other teachers with demonstrated success
  • 2 years experience leading professional learning
  • Demonstrated understanding of standards, assessment guidance, best practices, and pedagogy for two content areas/grade bands.

Desired Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of the HQIM used by our charter network for your content area/grade bands.
  • Louisiana Teacher Certification or out of state equivalent
  • Louisiana Leader Certification or out of state equivalent

Salary and Benefits

Salary is highly competitive and commensurate with experience. YACS offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, vision, dental, life insurance, a 401k plan and more.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
