Project Overview
The Summer Bridge Academic Coach is an innovative position created to support rising 9th grade students participating in the middle to high school transition program, Summer Bridge. Summer Bridge is a 6-week part-time (up to 30 hours per week) non-exempt position.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the YCD Site Coordinator, Summer Bridge Academic Coaches will be instrumental in assisting classroom teachers during workshops, reinforcing instructions to individual and small groups, assisting with break supervision, classroom attendance and management, monitoring lunch break, and leading community-building activities as needed. Five positions are available. Summer Bridge Academic Coach is a 6-week part-time (29 hours per week) non-exempt position, Monday-Friday, 9:30am-2:30pm. The job starts June 4, 2025, and ends July 17, 2025. Coaches will be assigned according to program needs by the Summer Bridge Site Coordinator.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with the site coordinator and classroom teacher to develop and facilitate community-building activities.
- Provide in-class support to teachers by modeling and reinforcing classroom activities.
- Responsible for administering and updating school site attendance.
- Responsible for pick up and distribution of snack/ lunch.
- Responsible for lunch supervision.
- Able to resolve conflicts in a professional manner

A successful candidate will possess:
- A current college student or college graduate.
- TB test clearance within the last two years and Livescan fingerprinting are required.
- Responsible, dependable, honest, and mature.

- Possess a can-do attitude.
- Experience working with youth and/or strong understanding of youth development.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written communications, patience, diplomacy, and high level of customer service skills.
- Ability to think critically, problem solve and be resourceful.

COMPENSATION: $24.00/hour
