Summary
The Buyer II will be a professional, high-energy self-motivated individual who can function in a team
atmosphere and utilize strong analytical and problem solving skills, with little or no supervision. The Buyer must
have exceptional skills using Microsoft Office Excel and proficient in Word and Power Point products (Office 2003 or
higher versions). The role requires the ability to source materials / services on a global basis in alignment with
strategic plan. Must have the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and make sound decisions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze buyer worksheets, MRP workbench, order rules, and product on hand to establish the correct buy
for specific item codes as assigned by the Purchasing Manager.
· Establish and maintain vendor relationships as they pertain to assigned product purchases.
· Negotiate contracts for the procurement of required materials and services from approved suppliers.
Establish strategies to improve supply chain, solve shortage issues and strengthen supplier relationships.
· Obtain materials, components and equipment, as required by the production schedule.
· Plan, schedule, and monitor the movement of materials through the development, prototype and
production cycle.
· Expedite orders as necessary. Identify actual and potential delivery problems and take proactive steps to
inform appropriate personnel and provide low cost solutions.
· Establish and maintain relations with suppliers and appropriate representatives and direct and procure
supplier technical and operating expertise as required to internal customer
· Maintain an awareness of materials and procurement concepts.
· Excellent understanding of MRP and apply MRP reports in ordering parts used in production to ensure
appropriate delivery dates.
· Verify data accuracy (parts numbers, BOMs, Part Costs) in MRP; report problems to appropriate parties;
ensure appropriate delivery dates.
· Coordinate all activities involved with the procurement of goods and services including price, availability, quality, and delivery. · Requires knowledge of price and cost analysis.
· Review bid proposals and negotiate pricing. · Execute weekly buys within budgetary limits and scope of responsibility. · Assist in the development and implementation of purchasing policies and systems. · Ensure that purchasing functions are efficient and cost effective. ·

Qualifications
· BS / BA in Business Management or related field (Supplemental education in Supply Chain Fundamentals or
Operations is a plus.)
· Institute for Supply Management CPM or CPSM or APICS. Must have the ability to attain and maintain these
certifications in the future.
Education and Experience
2-5 years related experience in purchasing, inventory management, planning or logistics. Knowledge of
Great Plains, MRP, ERP and Master Control a plus but not required.
Demonstrated track record of continuous improvement, cost reduction and improved service levels with in
the supply chain.
Knowledge of Internet, and proficient in spreadsheet, and word processing software
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages,
area, circumference, and volume
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
