What are the responsibilities and job description for the Group Exercise Instructor - Caldwell YMCA position at YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF BOISE IDAHO INC?
The Caldwell YMCA opened its doors on October 27, 2005. Since that time it has become a hallmark of the community, impacting the lives of thousands of kids and families. Facility amenities include a large cardio and weight floor, full-court basketball gym, three fitness studios, and a state-of-the-art aquatics center including a lap-pool, splash pad, pretzel slide, and lazy-river.
The Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for creating a safe, friendly, and helpful atmosphere for members participating in group exercise classes.
Schedule:
This is a part-time position at 1-4 hours depending on certifications. We are seeking certified instructors in Barre, Cycle, Yoga, Dance Fitness and others. Please reach out to our Group Exercise Coordinator, Sharon Batson, to discuss fitness formats we currently offer and those we would be interested to add. Rate of pay is $18.05-$22.56 per class depending on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Develop intentional relationships and create a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Use the class platform to educate and inform participants about the Y Cause and other Y program offerings.
- Conduct class in a quality, fun, and safe manner that results in increased attendance.
- Follow fitness trends and utilize prescribed formats when applicable.
- Actively identify participants who need additional support, such as new members, health seekers, and participants with diverse abilities.
- Monitor and ensure the safety of all participants.
- Provide excellent delivery of land group exercise instruction to all members.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge in group exercise instruction preferred.
- Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
- Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
- Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.
