What are the responsibilities and job description for the Group Exercise Instructor (Yoga) - Downtown Boise YMCA position at YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF BOISE IDAHO INC?
The Downtown Family YMCA opened its doors in 1964 and has since been a landmark in the Downtown Boise area. The facility has a full court basketball gym, a large cardio fitness center, multiple strength training systems and rooms, racquetball courts, a climbing wall, five fitness studios, three swimming pools, and multiple youth programming areas.
The Yoga Instructor is responsible for creating a safe, friendly, and helpful atmosphere for members participating in group exercise classes.
Responsibilities:
- Develop intentional relationships and, using the Y voice attributes, create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants that helps them meet the two Cause Measurement goals for adults.
- Use the class platform to educate and inform participants about the Y Cause and other Y program offerings.
- Conduct class in a quality, fun, and safe manner that results in increased attendance. Follow fitness trends and utilize prescribed formats when applicable.
- Actively identify participants who need additional support, such as new members, health seekers, and participants with diverse abilities.
- Monitor and ensure the safety of all participants.
- Provide excellent delivery of land group exercise instruction to all members.
- Engage members to deepen their relationships in the Y cause.
- Monitor and ensure safety of participants, staff and volunteers in the land group exercise class.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge in group exercise instruction preferred.
- Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
- Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
- Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.
Schedule:
This is a part time position averaging 1-2 hours per week. Schedule requirements are flexible.
