The Downtown Family YMCA opened its doors in 1964 and has since been a landmark in the Downtown Boise area. The facility has a full court basketball gym, a large cardio fitness center, multiple strength training systems and rooms, racquetball courts, a climbing wall, five fitness studios, three swimming pools, and multiple youth programming areas.
The Climbing Wall Youth Enrichment Instructor leads climbing activities for individuals and groups of all skill levels, guiding participants through exercises, teaching essential skills, and creating a fun and educational environment at the climbing wall facility.

Schedule:
This is a part-time position averaging 1 hour weekly. Schedule requirements are Wednesday's; 5:30pm-6:30pm. Pay rate is $14.15/hour.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and instruct indoor climbing sessions for individuals or groups, ensuring that climbers of all ages and abilities are engaged and challenged at an appropriate level.
- Teach participants proper climbing techniques, including belaying, climbing, and descending, ensuring all safety standards are followed.
- Supervise climbers on the wall, ensuring safety practices such as correct use of harnesses, ropes, helmets, and other climbing equipment.
- Maintain a high standard of safety by ensuring all climbers follow protocols and using clear communication when on the wall.
- Educate climbers about climbing ethics, environmental considerations, and the importance of equipment maintenance.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Climbing Wall Instructor training course or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of climbing techniques, belaying, rope management, and safety procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively instruct and motivate participants.
- Ability to work well under pressure and remain calm in emergency situations.
- Physical fitness and stamina to actively participate in climbing activities and assist climbers when needed.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
