POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the Director of Operations' direction, the coordinator is responsible for scheduling, promoting and providing member service to all participants by following the YMCA philosophy. The coordinator shall communicate effectively and provide leadership in instructional areas in accordance with the YMCA policies while maintaining a safe and clean environment. He/she will follow the YMCA mission of developing a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all and supporting the five core values.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists in hiring, training and supervising all staff and volunteers, including in-service trainings and help develop staff goals for group fitness, healthy living staff and personal trainers.
- Attend scheduled staff meeting and participate in appropriate workshops, continuing education and mandatory meetings.
- Interpret, communicate and promote YMCA mission, goals and programs to staff, volunteers, members, and the community. Work with CVA Marketing Director as needed.
- Conduct safe and appropriate environment for Wellness floor and group exercise classes following certified formats and guidelines while maintaining the group fitness/ healthy living schedule. Ensure all group fitness and aquatic class fitness instructor certifications are up to date.
- Involving the Youth Sports/ Healthy Living department in all branch special events and fundraising to encourage positive relationships with members and participants and provide motivational support and guidance.
- Assist in the development and fulfillment of department goals to aid and increase membership growth and retention. Engage all members, guests and visitors with superior customer service.
- Maintain and provides records and reports for all assigned areas, including tracking all volunteers and total hours.?
- Have flexibility with schedule to help cover instructor/ coach absences.
- Develop, distribute and market promotional material to enhance successful enrollment of all programs. Including scheduling group fitness and healthy living orientation for new members.
- Administer and supervise volunteer coach’s clinics and team parent orientations.?Schedule additional youth sport events which may include pre/ mid/ post-season activities and securing team sponsorships for Youth Sports.
- Develops and distributes team practice, game schedules and sports rules. Including purchasing team uniforms, photographs and awards
- Transports, sets up and monitors purchases of equipment for games and practices.?
- Enters all program information into the Y Daxko system for registration, organizes schedules and program registrations. Research and implement new programming to increase member experience and retention.
- Develops and maintains SS YMCA and collaborative relationships with Hampden Sydney and Longwood University while supervising coordination of facilities ensuring gyms and storage areas are clean with safe equipment available. Help and?assist with set up of community outreach programs.?
- Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner and?provide customer service to all program participants.
- Ensures that safety procedures are followed and that all programs and regulations are in compliance with YMCA standards and other applicable protocols. If not, ensure necessary repairs are made in a timely manner via Facility Dude and report any problems to the Director of Operations.
- To perform all other duties assigned as it relates to Healthy Living, Group Fitness and Youth Sports as well as the overall mission and scope of the YMCA.?

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum age of 21
- Certifications:
- CPR/ AED, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen prior to employment or within 30 days of employment.
- National Certification (ACE NETA, AFAA, NASM) in Group Fitness Instruction
- Nationally recognized certification in specific area of instruction as needed (Body Pump, Yoga, AEA, Personal Training, etc.)
- Strong interpersonal communication and customer service and general office skills required.
- Ability to work independently and in a group setting.
- Must have the ability to work with all ages and skill levels.
- Work in a dynamic, changing and diverse environment.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must have physical, visual and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
