POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Welcome Center Representative at the Kent County Family YMCA maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and provides a quality experience to all members and program participants. The Welcome Center Representative delivers excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants. Responds to member and guest needs, promotes and sells memberships, programs, and maintains cleanliness and organization of the workspace.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
2. Conducts interviews/tours responsive to the needs of prospective members; sells memberships.
3. Signs members in and participants up for various programs and events.
4. Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and the YMCA.
5. Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
6. Applies all YMCA policies dealing with member services.
7. Attends and participates in staff meetings and staff training.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications and any other additional trainings required within 30 days of hire.
· Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.
· At least 16 years of age.
· Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
· Previous customer service, sales, or related experience preferred.
· Basic knowledge of computers.
· Ability to multitask.
· Reliable and timely.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
· Ability to lift 45 pounds.
