The Easton Family YMCA is seeking a dynamic individual interested in serving
as Youth and Family Director for the Easton Family YMCA. Serving nearly
10,000 members in Talbot County, pre Covid-19 pandemic, the Easton
Family YMCA is a hub of activity for many in our community. Our 80,000
square foot facility includes great wellness amenities, two full length pools,
and a state of the art youth and teen center.
Under the direct supervision of the Group Executive the Youth and Family
Director will be responsible for operation and implementation of our branch
youth programming including summer camp, before and after care
programming, and middle/high school initiatives. Major emphasis will be
continued enhancements and leadership of our summer camp program,
serving 400 youth per day. Curriculum development, staff leadership and
development, and parent communication are all key components of this role.
This candidate will also be responsible for increased of the Thomas E. Hill
Teen Center and it’s program spaces. Preferred candidate will also be
responsible for the day to day programming for the YMCA’s before and after
school initiatives for elementary, middle and high school youth. The ideal
candidate will have a passion for using the features of this facility to enhance
the program experience for all youth in Talbot County. Candidate will also
be responsible for planning family events throughout the year geared
towards encouraging family memberships to the YMCA. Program growth in
2022 and beyond will be key for success in this role.
Duties will require program development/innovation, member engagement,
budget development and management, facility management, building of
community partnerships and a positive approach to problem solving.
Effective candidates will have backgrounds in building relationships,
successful staff supervision, problem solving skills, program management
and the ability to work with diverse populations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: STAFF DEVELOPMENT
1. Support the summer camp and program staff as needed. Support other program directors as needed with applicable training and certifications.
2. Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and manage a high performing staff focused on providing exceptional service and work well as a team. The Y: We’re for youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
3. Actively participates in Association committees to promote communication, teamwork and unity between the branches.
4. Develop strategies to provide support and motivation to staff for the achievement of goals and retention.
5. Review and evaluate staff performance.
6. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
PROGRAM OPERATIONS
1. Effectively communicate the mission, vision and values of the YMCA of the Chesapeake.
2. Ensure all programs comply with YMCA standards and methods of operation.
3. Integrate member-service and engagement strategies into all programs to ensure positive member recruitment and retention.
4. Monitor and evaluate delivery and effectiveness of programs and staff for the highest possible level of quality.
5. Be visible to staff and members.
6. Respond to all member and community inquiries and concerns within 24 hours.
7. Communicate program information, changes and needs in a timely manner to supervisor and branch staff.
FISCAL MANAGEMENT
1. Develop, monitor and meet or exceed budget targets.
2. Produce effective and efficient staff schedules within set payroll budget parameters.
ANNUAL CAMPAIGN | FINANCIAL DEVELOPMENT
1. Provide leadership for assigned aspects of Annual Campaign.
FACILITIES DEVELOPMENT
1. Maintain complete familiarity with all risk management procedures and policies.
2. Maintain membership areas and equipment are in an orderly, clean and safe condition. Report any irregularities to maintenance personnel.
3. Communicate information promptly to all branch leadership and departmental staff.
4. Attend applicable training and conferences to further professional development.
5. Serve as director on duty per rotating staff schedule.
6. All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
2. Two years experience as a YMCA Director or experience in a related field.
3. YMCA Team Leader or Multi-Team Leader Certification preferred or willingness to work towards certification.
4. Background must include strong skills in human relations, budgeting, sound fiscal management, financial development, program development/innovation/growth, membership growth/retention, volunteer and staff development, committee and board relation skills and staff supervision.
5. Must be able to access data (e.g., Daxko), translate the meaning and provide actionable next steps based on the numbers.
6. Must possess excellent communication skills.
7. Must be a problem solver with a proven track record of complaint resolution.
8. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and credibility.
9. Self-motivated with the ability to work in a highly flexible, rapidly changing and ambiguous work environment.
