Position Summary
The Membership Engagement & Wellness Coordinator is responsible for fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging environment for YMCA members. This role will focus on member retention, relationship building, and wellness programming. The Coordinator will support membership initiatives, promote wellness programs, and ensure excellent customer service.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Member Engagement & Retention :
- Create a welcoming atmosphere for all members, ensuring high-quality customer service.
- Develop and implement engagement strategies to retain and increase membership participation.
- Conduct member check-ins, surveys, and outreach to improve satisfaction and gather feedback.
- Promote YMCA programs and services, connecting members to relevant offerings.
- Organize special events, social gatherings, and recognition initiatives to enhance community-building.
Wellness & Program Support :
Assist in the coordination and promotion of wellness programs, group fitness, and health initiatives.Provide information and guidance to members regarding wellness programs and activities.Support onboarding of new members, offering fitness orientations or connecting them with appropriate wellness resources.Work collaboratively with the wellness team to enhance program participation and member engagement.Administrative & Operational Support :
Maintain accurate records of member interactions, engagement efforts, and program participation.Assist in training and supporting membership desk staff and volunteers in engagement best practices.Monitor and respond to member inquiries in person, via phone, and through digital platforms.Ensure YMCA policies, safety procedures, and values are upheld in all interactions.Qualifications & Skills
Education : High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Health & Wellness, Recreation, Hospitality, or Business) preferred.Experience :1-2 years of customer service, member engagement, wellness, or related experience preferred.
Experience in health & wellness programming or community engagement is a plus.Skills :Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to build relationships and provide outstanding customer service.Organizational and problem-solving skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and member management software (e.g., Daxko, CRM tools).Certifications (preferred or required) :CPR / AED and First Aid (or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire).
YMCA or other fitness / wellness certifications are a plus.Work Environment & Schedule
May require flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.Primarily an indoor role with some physical activity (walking, light lifting, assisting in wellness areas).YMCA Leadership Competencies (Team Leader Level)
