POSITION SUMMARY
Instructor Aquatics, working as part of the Aquatics team, will deliver world-class customer service and relationship building skills to create a welcoming environment at the YMCA. The individual will be responsible for providing safe group swim instruction for participants. The incumbent will also exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Always maintain pool safety during swimming lessons; deliver lessons that provide students the best opportunity to acquire skills for their level

Educate participants on pool rules and enforce rules as required

Remain current on all CPR, First Aid and other safety certification training

Report all accidents and incidents to your supervisor immediately using proper forms

Be visible to members at all times-work towards branch membership retention goals

Keep daily attendance records and complete level skill sheets

Be in the water 50-100% of class time

Communicate with all participants/parents if class is being cancelled and/or rescheduled

Be knowledgeable and supportive of the YMCA annual support campaign, and general procedures and policies, including personnel guidelines, facility access procedures, membership policies, and emergency plans

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum 16 years of age
-
Swim Lesson Certification or willingness to obtain within a few months of hire

Listen First within 6 months of hire or an action plan in place
-
CPR/AED and First Aid within 30 days of hire

Strong communication and listening skills are required
-
Previous experience in a swim school environment preferred
-
This is a very part time position Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4pm to 6:30pm and Saturdays 9:30am-12pm
