POSITION SUMMARY :
Under the guidance of the assigned Supervisor, a Health and Safety Instructor facilitates a variety of health and safety classes to include, but is not limited to, CPR / AED / First Aid (Community and / or Professional Rescuer), Mental Health, Babysitting, Lifeguard, WSI, Advanced First Aid / Responding to Emergencies and Oxygen Administration classes. The position is responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester is conveyed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Conducts all classes in accordance with the program requirements.
- Maintains the premises in a clean and sanitary condition.
- Maintains accurate records on individual participants that will lead to accurate information on certificates.
- Promotes the YMCA mission and demonstrate YMCA Character Development to all members.
- Is acquainted with other available facilities and activities.
- Secures a substitute instructor when unable to fulfill assigned duties and notify supervisor of changes.
- Provides a lesson plan for any substitute.
- Attends all required staff meetings and trainings.
- Maintains required certifications.
- All other duties as assigned.
