YMCA of South Hampton Roads is seeking highly motivated Senior Facilities Technicians to join our dynamic and diverse team. As the Senior Facilities Technician, you will be responsible for the general maintenance and upkeep for our YMCA facilities by performing a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks related to the building’s systems and structures including painting, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, electrical, and general repairs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Respond to work orders, assess issues, prioritize tasks, and documenting completed repairs.
  • Oversee, mentor, and evaluate two facility technicians in the region.
  • Partner with Facilities Officer Manager to improve efficiency and effectiveness on competing work tickets.
  • Help ensure outside contractors work is completed correctly, efficiently, and according to schedule.
  • Keep accurate management and detail of Centers work orders, PM’s, and Inspections in Association Operations Management Software.
  • Ensures limited member inconvenience, cleanliness of facility during daily building walkthroughs, project implementation and completion.
  • Ensures the outside of buildings are well maintained and presentable at all times.
  • Perform basic landscaping tasks, removing debris, and snow removal.
  • Adheres to all OSHA standards.
  • Assists with all association duties as assigned by Facilities Director, Facilities Office Manager, and VP of Property and Assets.

Requirements : QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Three to five years of progressive experience in general facilities maintenance.
  • Current Drivers License
  • Prior supervisory and / or leadership experience preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Hand and power tool proficiency.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent property maintenance knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, Carpentry, Painting, Electrical and Property operations.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies, and to travel as needed for operational management, including on-site presence in managing major operational problems.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and ability to learn business and operations management software.
  • Excellent time management, project planning and communication skills.
  • Flexible, patient, and the ability to make good, sound judgments, able to operate with minimum guidance from the Facilities Director.
  • Effective team-building and team-leadership skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to respond to a wide variety of constituencies, including staff, volunteers, members, program participants, vendors, and community leaders, on time.
  • ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS, AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Physically able to successfully complete required job functions, including the use of hands, arms, fingers, able to talk and hear, use a computer, sit and stand, regularly move / lift up to 50 pounds, enter all YMCA environments (office spaces, indoor and outdoor maintenance / mechanical areas, fitness areas, pool and pool space, camping areas, unimproved outdoor locations and other program areas).
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be physically able to successfully complete all required certifications and training.
  • Must be able to perform the jobs of the employees supervised.
  • Must have ability to work inside and outside, i.e. humidity, hot, cold, inclement weather conditions.
  • Must have the ability to concentrate in a loud environment.
