POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Youth Sports Program Coordinator at the Dunigan YMCA manages a youth/adult sports program in accordance with the practices of the sports department and the Association. This position will oversee the front-line details of a youth sports program by preparing and planning for practice and game days, supervising activities related to athletic development and gymnastics training for parents and children ages 9-15 with various backgrounds and abilities, overseeing and assisting with recruiting of Youth Sports Coaches, and communicating with players, and Youth Sports Coordinator or Sports Director. The Youth Sports Program at the Dunigan YMCA serves others by intentionally welcoming, connecting, and supporting them and inviting them to get involved and give back to the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth.

Complete required abuse risk management training.

Adhere to the procedures associated with managing high-risk activities and supervising youth.

Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
-
Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.

To teach sports through a game-based approach and effectively planned practices at a level appropriate for each team member.

Welcome each child and their parents at the start of each class.

Be aware that each child’s physical and emotional maturity, personality, background, and motivation differ.

Supervise the players before, during, and after practices and games.
-
To provide a safe and enjoyable environment for all players, giving each child an equal opportunity to participate.

Communicate with other staff to promote proper sport-specific techniques.

To teach players multiple playing positions of the sport and ensure equal playing time in each game.

Communicate any questions or concerns with the Sports Coordinator and/or the Sports Director.

To serve as a positive role model to the players, parents, and fellow coaches by following all rules, demonstrating good sportsmanship, and coaching consistency with the Y.

Assist with staff scheduling to ensure adequate coverage of program needs.

Ability to lead sports practices.

Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including leading sports practices, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen, and Blood Borne Pathogen training is required within 60 days of employment.

Child Abuse Prevention training is required before/on the first workday.
Salary : $14 - $17
