POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the VP of Operations, the Dunigan Family YMCA Membership Director manages all aspects of membership for the branch, including recruitment of new members, retention of existing members, and supervision of membership and child watch staff. This position will be the main point of contact for members and visitors to the Y. It will assume some facility management responsibilities, manage the teaching garden, and be the first point of contact for member issues. On average, the Membership Director will work 6 to 8 hours per week of engagement hours.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Follow employee and volunteer screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk.
- Provide employees & volunteers with ongoing supervision & training related to abuse risk.
- Give employees & volunteers regular feedback regarding their boundaries with youth.
- Require employees & volunteers to adhere to policies & procedures related to abuse risk.
- Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations using the organizations progressive disciplinary procedures.
- Respond thoughtfully and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.
- Follow mandated reporting requirements.
- Communicate the organizations commitment to protect its youth from abuse to all employees and volunteers.
- Manage the WatchDog system for the Dunigan and online locations.
- Management of the 24-hour program and the Nationwide Membership Program.
- Partner with the Child Care Branch to lead teaching garden-to-table curriculum to summer day camp participants. Recruit volunteers to assist in managing the teaching garden.
- Develop & implement the annual plan for the Dunigan Branch annual campaign goals.
- Assist VPO with implementation action items to meet the strategic plan's objectives.
- Manage membership strategies that support new member recruitment & retention. Create a member-focused culture and model relationship-building skills in all interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs staff and volunteers as needed.
- Annually reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Develops the annual membership budget and the monthly variance reports.
- Manages budget and takes appropriate action to correct variances with close attention to staff salaries.
- Ensures proper implementation of front desk procedures. Reviews and updates desk procedures and communicates changes to staff.
- Organizes membership events at the YMCA and represents the YMCA at community events to promote the YMCA.
- Participates in staff meetings and Dunigan Branch Board meetings.
- Continually work toward advancing the YMCAs mission & vision.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen, and Blood Borne Pathogen training are required within 60 days of employment.
- Child Abuse Prevention training is required before/on the first workday.
- The Membership Director must enjoy, be skilled at, and understand the importance of building relationships with people: members, staff, volunteers, donors, and community leaders.
- Must be multi-tasked-oriented, able to take initiative, and have practical organizational and communication skills.
- Bachelors Degree in related field preferred.
- Must demonstrate ability to develop effective working relationships and to communicate and solve problems effectively.
