This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Human Resources and Operations Assistant at the Capital Area YMCA will assist in the development and implementation of human resources policies, plans and services, including recruitment, selection, legal compliance, employee benefits, compensation, employee relations, diversity and inclusion, employment practices and procedures.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in business, human resources or equivalent preferred.
• Two or more years of professional experience in aspects of human resources management and staff development and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Efficiently and effectively fill open positions while supporting and guiding candidates during their offer of employment decision. Work with hiring managers on recruiting plans.
· Maintains the Paylocity payroll system which includes registering all new employees, entering all payroll and personnel file data.
· Prepares the organization's bi-weekly payrolls. Establishes and maintains staff payroll records, prepares entries and calculations on salary changes, overtime, leave without pay, various benefit plan deductions for local state and federal taxes and such special deductions as requested.
· Assist in the annual open enrollment process. Arrange for distribution of plan summary materials, required notices, and employee communications.
· Answer employee questions about coverage; act as a liaison between the employees, third party administrators, and benefit vendors. Assesses and evaluates training and staff development needs.
· Remains current with employment laws and regulations. Maintains an effective program of compliance with laws and regulations related to human resources and manages relationships with compliance agencies and YMCA legal counsel.
· Oversees HR systems and employee records to ensure accuracy and improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization. Ensures timely and accurate. submission of data requested by the EEOC, YMCA of the USA, Department of Labor, etc.
· Oversee HR operations involving the volunteer Board of Trustees.
