What are the responsibilities and job description for the Swim Team Coach position at Young Mens Christian Association Of?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Head Swim Team Coach is responsible for the daily operation of the Swim Team Program. Daily functions include practice and training sessions for swim team participants.
In addition, every position in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc. is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plan training routine for swim team participants
- Assist in setting the competition schedule for the swim team
- Train and educate the coaching staff
- Keep team statistics and information, including certifications, registrations, league requirements, and swim meet entries
- Provide a positive learning atmosphere for swim team participants, parents, and staff
- Abide by the YMCA policies and league rules
- Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service
- Assist in the Annual Campaign fundraising program for the YMCA
- Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers, and program participants
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Head Swim Team Coach is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this program in conjunction with the Assistant Swim Team coach.
QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Competitive swimming and/or coaching experience is required.
- Sound working knowledge of competitive swimming principles.
- Ability to develop and implement training plans and routines for participants.
- Ability to foster positive staff, peers, and program participants.
- CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines.
