The Raritan Bay Area YMCA – Mental Health Department is seeking a full-time Mental Health Clinician.
The Raritan Bay Area YMCA has served as a pillar in the community of Perth Amboy and beyond. Today the Y impact continues to grow as programming in our three Areas of Focus; Healthy Living, Youth Development and Social Responsibility.
The Department of Mental Health Services is committed to filling the critical need to provide quality, equitable mental and behavioral health and social support services for individuals of all ages.
Under the supervision of the Director of Mental Health Services and Mental Health Program Director, the Mental Health Clinician will provide therapeutic intervention including client intake, assessment, treatment planning, weekly therapy/counseling, advocacy and discharge/transition services. The Mental Health Clinician will provide services in-office and/or virtually as needed to meet specific client needs. Counseling may take place in individual, group and/or family setting. The Mental Health Clinician will ensure all corresponding documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Essential Duties:
1. Conduct intake interviews and assessments, create and implement treatment and behavioral plans.
2. Utilize evidenced based interventions to conduct weekly therapy sessions which support client/family treatment plan goal achievement.
3. Utilize electronic health record software to create and maintain updated and accurate client files including intake, progress, treatment, discharge and other notes, forms and documents as required by RBAYMCA and partnering organizations.
4. Work in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to assist individuals and families managing mental health, emotional and behavioral challenges.
5. Establish and maintain partnerships with client and family wraparound/interdisciplinary team (i.e., PCP, psychiatrist, school, care manager etc.) and respond to client, family and stakeholder’ requests/communications in a timely manner.
6. Demonstrate exceptional cultural competence when serving diverse populations.
7. Be knowledgeable of, follow and maintain ethical guidelines and practices.
8. Support clients in crisis towards stabilization and/or referral to higher level of care based on client/family needs.
9. Engage in ethical discharge and transition of clients supporting their connection to natural and community resources and supports.
10. Engage in supervision/consultation as required/needed based on licensure level and RBAYMCA Protocol.
11. Establish personal goals for self-improvement and professional growth and knowledge and appropriate Y certifications
Participate in staff and/or other meetings as requested.
Position Details:
- Full-Time/Exempt: 40 working hours/week with 1/2-hour unpaid lunch each day. General hours are Monday – Friday from 9:00AM-5:30PM. Evening and/or weekend hours as needed to meet organizational and departmental needs.

Requirements
- Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or related field.
- Active NJ State Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or Marriage & Family License. (LAC, LPC, LSW, LCSW, LMFT, PhD)
- Prior experience in youth development/engagement and/or serving underserved, multicultural and lingual populations.
- Knowledge of evidence-based modalities for therapy and treatment.
- Commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusivity.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Reliable and punctual with ability to complete independent tasks while being part of the collaborate team and effort.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining working relationships, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Obtain and successfully pass state and federal criminal background check via fingerprinting.
- Utilization of Electronic Health Record System
- Language Skills – Bilingual with excellent written and verbal abilities in multiple languages a plus.
- Experience with ID/DD/ASD population a plus.

Salary : $60,000 - $65,000
