POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Youth Development Director, the AFS/ SDC Coordinator develops, organizes and implements high quality Youth programs, ensuring that intended goals are met.
This position requires the ability to work summer camp during the summer months.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Works with the Youth Development Director to maintain current Out-Of-School (Afterschool, All Day Out, Day Camps, PNO) programs and establish new Out of School programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating objectives.
2. Facilitate classroom and program visits to ensure and maintain quality programming and assist with behaviors; ensures YMCA program standards and curriculum are met and safety procedures followed.
3. Assist with recruitment, hiring and development of Youth Program staff; provides leadership to Teachers, Counselors, and Attendants.
4. Provide on-site training to new employees and facilitate staff in-service meetings.
5. Ensures adequate coverage for all Youth Programs; fills in as necessary to meet ratio requirements.
6. Record, distribute and maintain Program paperwork and materials such as registration details, incident/ behavior/communication reports, billing invoices, nutrition, supplies, and any other necessary items to communicate with the Director.
7. Distribute and maintain Youth Program communication with families including tours and registrations, attendance reports, field trips, newsletters, etc.
8. Comply with Association and branch specific policies and procedures.
9. Assists, leads, or participates in YMCA activities, including but not limited to staff meetings, special events, and fundraising campaigns. 10. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions; develops and maintains positive, collaborative relationships with staff, parents and caregivers, program participants, administration, support staff and community organizations to maximize program impact and drive overall outcomes; maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within an area of responsibility.
10. Assist, leads and works in summer camp during the summer months. 11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen certifications required within 60 days of hire. Bloodborne Pathogen, Sexual Harassment, and Child Abuse Prevention trainings must be attained within 30 days of hire.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Bachelor’s in Education, Child Development, Social Work, Psychology, Therapeutic Recreation, Human Services or a related field is preferred; working toward such a degree, or related experience.
• An understanding of positive behavioral approaches and positive early childhood development. Two years of related work experience. Preschool experience is preferred.
• Excellent oral and written presentation skills.
• Computer skills: Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher (or willing to learn), Outlook, Google drive
• Transportation: ability to get to multiple site locations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings. Must be able to perform all physical requirements of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50lbs at a time.
