What are the responsibilities and job description for the PICKLEBALL INSTRUCTOR position at Young Mens Christian Association?
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Pickleball Instructor maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in class.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and deliver individualized training plans based on each client's goals, skill level, and physical abilities.
- Teach and refine fundamental Pickleball techniques, including serving, returning, dinking, and strategy.
- Create a positive and supportive training environment, encouraging clients to reach their full potential.
- Stay updated on the latest Pickleball equipment and techniques to offer informed recommendations to clients.
- Prioritize safety during training sessions, ensuring that clients follow proper techniques and use appropriate equipment.
- Actively seek new clients and build relationships within the local Pickleball community.
- Instructs Pickleball lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly, and supports members and program participants in achieving their goals.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with volunteers, members or program participants, and colleagues at all levels of the organization; helps participants and families connect with each other and the YMCA; and encourages parent or caregiver involvement.
- Maintains records as required (e.g., attendance, progress reports).
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
- Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen certification required within 60 days of hire.
- Ability to complete Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Harassment training within 30 days of hire.
- Must be certified through a nationally recognized Pickleball organization such as NPA, PCI, IPTPA, etc.
- Minimum age of 18.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the Pickleball Instructor. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper Pickleball techniques.
- Ability to lift equipment and set up for Pickleball lessons.
- Must be able to perform all physical requirements of the position; including walking, standing, bending, reaching and lifting up to 50lbs at a time.
