What are the responsibilities and job description for the SPLASH PAD position at Young Mens Christian Association?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Splash Pad Staff are responsible for overseeing the operation of the splash pad area, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of participants, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Greet guests warmly as they enter the splash pad area and provide friendly assistance and information as needed. Monitor the splash pad area to ensure that all guests are following safety rules and guidelines.
- Maintain constant vigilance over the splash pad area to ensure the safety of participants, particularly young children. Enforce safety rules, such as no running or rough play, and intervene as needed to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Monitor the operation of splash pad equipment, including water features, pumps, and filtration systems, to ensure proper functioning and safety. Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate staff member promptly.
- Conduct regular checks of water quality and cleanliness to ensure that water meets health and safety standards. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning filters and removing debris, to keep the splash pad water clean and hygienic.
- Be prepared to respond quickly and effectively to medical emergencies or injuries that may occur in the splash pad area. Administer first aid as need and contact emergency services or notify YMCA management as appropriate.
- Provide excellent customer service to splash pad guests, answering questions, addressing concerns, and aiding as needed. Maintain a positive and welcoming atmosphere to enhance the overall guest experience.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks to keep the splash pad area clean, safe, and attractive. Sweep or hose down surfaces, empty trash receptacles, and replenish supplies as needed to ensure a pleasant environment for guests.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum age of 16.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Certifications required within 60 days of employment: CPR, First Aid, AED, Oxygen.
- Ability to complete the following within 30 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention training; Bloodborne Pathogens and Sexual Harassment training.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to perform all physical requirements of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching and lifting up to 50 lbs. at a time.
