Description
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides safe transportation of children during during summer camp to and from activity locations. May also provide support in other areas as assigned. Typical day camp hours 9:30am-3:30pm, with occasional longer and/or shorter times. Day Camp operates Monday through Friday from June 2, 2025 – August 1, 2025.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Drives bus safely according to YMCA policies and procedures and state laws.
- Completes thorough before-and-after trip checks each day and record all information. Record gas level, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms. Cleans out bus each day.
- Promotes safety at all times by keeping first aid and supplies fully stocked.
- Ensures that bus rules are announced and followed.
- Develops friendly and positive relationships among staff, volunteers, parents, and children.
- Communicates regularly with other staff members and supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Must possess CDL class B license with school bus endorsement.
- Must possess current DOT health certificate.
- Minimum one year work experience as a bus driver.
- Knowledge of the rules/guidelines related to commercial passenger vehicles (bus).
- CPR, 1st Aid, AED, Oxygen completed within 60 days. Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Harassment training completed before start of 1st shift.
- Desire and ability to work with children.
- Minimum age of 21.
