What are the responsibilities and job description for the YWAC Outreach Assistant position at Young Williams Animal Center of East Tennessee?
Would you like to help people and pets outside of the shelter? Would you like to help pets stay with the humans who love them? Are you willing to meet someone new and learn something new every day? Then this position may be for you! The Outreach department at Young-Williams is based on “Pets for Life”, a pilot program and partnership with the Humane Society of the United States.
The mission of Young-Williams Animal Center is to lead the community to end pet homelessness, promote animal welfare and enhance the human-animal bond. The Outreach team is focused on all three components, for the most vulnerable pets in Knoxville including zip code 37921 and other low-resourced areas. We provide help to pet owners living in this “resource desert” by doing strategic door-to-door outreach, building a consistent community presence and using an extensive follow-up process to build relationships and trust within the pet-owning population. Outreach is also a hybrid medical team within Young-Williams, providing Access to Care through monthly vaccine clinics and low-cost Care Clinics.
