TITLE: Assistant Principal – Student Services
EMPLOYMENT TERMS: 1.0 FTE; 12-Month position
SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Administrative
GENERAL STATEMENT of RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Assistant Principal will be responsible for supporting the site Principal in providing leadership to the school with primary duties being in the area of Student Services.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
- Assist the site Principal and work collaboratively as part of the administrative team to provide a safe, engaging, and relevant educational experience for students.
- Coordinate student services of the school (student conduct, special services, etc.)
- Use multiple sources of data to assess student progress and plan for school improvement.
- Incorporate academic and behavior modifications in an effective manner to assist students in learning and growing.
- Supervise and evaluate teachers and other staff as assigned.
- Communicate effectively with the stakeholders (teachers, staff, students, parents/guardians, community members, other administrators, district office staff) about the pertinent areas under your supervision.
- Attend/lead meetings pertinent to the primary duties of one’s role at the school and district levels.
- Stay current on relevant laws, policies, and procedures in fulfilling job responsibilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree with coursework in Administration
- Valid AZ Department of Education Principal Certificate
- Successful experience in Teaching Secondary Education
- Commitment to active student learning
- Evidence of cooperative and caring human relationships, and team building skills
- Two years of related experience, preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred.
OCCUPATIONAL CONDITION:
Low risk - Work is routinely performed in indoor environments, including exposure to noise and being on your feet for extended periods of time. May require standing in inclement weather including summer heat.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer student discipline in conjunction with the conduct policy of the district.
- Coordinate disciplinary and academic referrals to the Learning Center.
- Serve as the Student Study Team Leader and coordinate the 45-day screening process.
- Serve as the student 504 Site Coordinator.
- Serve as the LEA Representative at IEP and 504 meetings.
- Supervise and evaluate teachers and other staff as assigned.
- Coordinate safety/crisis planning and drills.
- Serve as the liaison between the technology staff and administration.
- Hire and supervise security staff.
- Monitor key distribution.
- Assist in coordinating enrollment and registration of students.
- Provide professional development for staff as appropriate for job responsibilities.
- Provide campus and event supervision.
- Athletic/Activities Supervision.
- Attend Full Cabinet and Safety Cabinet meetings at the district level.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Demonstrated knowledge of secondary school education and administration.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills as well as attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills and ability to analyze data in various applications including excel.
- Modern office technology.

Assistant Principal – Student Services reports directly to the Site Principal.
