Job Description
JOB TITLE: District Manager
REPORT TO: Director of Retail Operations
The district manager is responsible for managing and overseeing an assigned group of retail stores and donation centers. Will serve as the point of contact for all store related issues.The district manager’s office will be located at the main plant location, however they will spend a good portion of the time out in the field at various retail sites.
The district manager reports to and is supervised by the Director of Retail Operations.
1. Specific Job Responsibilities
- Manages the growth, development and direction of retail stores.
- Reviews various retail reports to analyze the performance of assigned store and donation centers.
- Visits each store at least bi-monthly, check for ideal inventory levels, cleanliness, neatness, etc.
- Learn all jobs in the stores and donation centers and be available in case of manager absence.
- Ensures stores are receiving their shipments and orders and serves as the point of contact between the retail and transportation departments
- Work with departments across the organization to meet store needs.
- Implements and ensures the proper training of store and donation center personnel and be available to assist in training if necessary.
- Responsible for contributing content for use in policy and process manuals and training material by providing details to Director of Retail Operations.
- .Responsible for interviewing and hiring store managers with guidance from the Director of Retail Operations.
- Implements and ensures employees adhere to all store and safety policies and procedures.
- Provides feedback to Director of Retail Operations during processes to relocate stores, close existing and open new stores including layout, fixtures, vendor negotiation, staffing, stocking, etc.
- Work with store personnel to resolve customer complaints, employee issues, etc. when onsite.
- Work with Director of Retail Operations on store openings/closing as needed.
- Make recommendations to Director of Retail Operations for promotions, new goods, improvements, etc. as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
2. Supervises/Business Contacts
- Direct: Store Managers, Floating Managers
- Indirect: Other retail and donation center staff
C. External business contacts will include various businesses when involved in projects; such as United Way, schools, vendors, and appropriate board committees.
QUALIFICATIONS
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Three years of retail management experience or related field or must possess extensive experience in retail sales and have demonstrated potential for management as evidenced by successful progression through position of increasing responsibility and authority. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Good customer service skills. Must be an effective communicator. Proficient in Microsoft Office specifically, Excel, Word and Outlook.
Must possess a valid driver’s license, maintain adequate insurance and pass a background check.
