Description
The Logan Campus Bartender will contribute to the mission, vision, and values of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation by operating the bar at JCC Logan Campus while creating a high quality customer service environment for patrons with standards of excellence.
- Prepare and responsibly serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to members and guests in the bar area
- Take orders for and prepare beverages, being sure to follow proper policies and procedures, proper serving techniques, alcohol awareness, and federal, state, and local regulations
- Maintain a pleasant and safe customer service environment by monitoring patron intoxication levels and responding appropriately
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent sales service
- Welcome guests who approach the bar and respond to all customer inquiries in a professional, friendly manner
- Operate point-of-sale system, completing cash, credit card, and member account payment transactions in a timely and efficient manner
- Ensure that all received cash is well-accounted for, stored in a safe area, and balanced during each shift change
- Participate in the set-up of bar area, transporting, stocking, and arranging inventory of supplies and communicating shortages to supervisor
- Perform ongoing clean-up duties including garbage removal, cleaning spills, and wiping tables as needed during each shift and ensure that the bar area is sanitized and tidied up at the end of each shift
- Use computer system to run daily reports of cash received against food and beverage items sold
- Be familiar with and enact emergency protocols and other policies to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all members and guests, referring problems to appropriate staff as needed
- Communicate and cooperate with colleagues, members, and lay leaders as part of the JCC team, including attending staff meetings as needed
- Adhere to all JCC and departmental policies
- Complete all additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements
The ideal candidate has experience as a bartender and very good communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to follow directions and work as part of a team. Must have the ability to relate in a positive manner with members, guests, and fellow staff while providing exceptional customer service at all times. The ability to handle physical activities, stand and walk for long periods of time and lift weight in excess of 50 pounds is required. Accuracy with money and change is extremely important. Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
