Summary of Position
Position Information
Assists in the development of HR policies and procedures; examines current policies and procedures to determine where processes could be streamlined and automated; works with others to create formalized documentation to support processes and personnel.
Plays a supportive role in HR strategic planning; works toward improving the organizational climate and employee satisfaction through organizational change.
Conducts classification and compensation reviews as needed; develops and/or revises position descriptions and recommends appropriate classification and compensation structure; reviews, develops, and revises position descriptions in conjunction with annual performance evaluations.
Conducts position audit processes to determine appropriate classification and compensation structure; recommends classification and/or appropriate position title and prepares official documents; interprets policies, civil service law, and labor agreements in matters related to classification and compensation.
Represents the university and/or serves as an advocate for classification matters before the State Personnel Board of Review and internal appeals committees; provides the necessary documents to legal representation and/or internal appeals committees; may testify at hearings and/or appeals.
Assists with position market pricing and analysis; recommends changes to ensure the maintenance of the organization's compensation objectives and competitiveness in the marketplace; conducts and participates in wage and salary surveys.
Collects and prepares data and creates reports; enters data into the applicant tracking system; enters data in the human resources information system.
Collects and analyzes data, prepares reports, assembles statistical information utilized for contract negotiations.
Assists with special projects as assigned.
Other Functions and Responsibilities: Trains new hires.
Performs other duties as assigned and/or required that are within the level of responsibility for this classification at the discretion of the supervisor.
Equipment Operated: Computer and all other standard office equipment.
Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications and Competencies

Minimum Qualifications: At least a bachelor’s degree and three years of human resources work experience.
Preferred Qualifications: A master’s degree in business administration or another related discipline. Specific human resources experience in preparing position descriptions and classification and/or position evaluation methodologies. Work experience in the higher education arena.
