Summary of Position
Position Information
Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources. Remains current regarding advancements in the field of Health Information Management to integrate relevant information into the curriculum. Collaborates with colleagues to enhance the overall academic experience and contribute to the continuous improvement of the program. Monitors student progress, advise students, record grades/academic progress, and submit reports as requested.

Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday, including some evenings, and the possibility of some weekend days.
Qualifications and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications: At least a bachelor's degree in allied health (or related field) or an associate degree, five or more years as a certified medical assistant, and current certification by American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) and/or American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA); practical/industry experience in the professional discipline; and certification in one or more of the following: Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIT), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), and/or Certified Coding Specialist – physician based (CCS-P).
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher in health information management-related field; previous teaching experience at the college/community college level.
