GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
An employee in this class provides premier customer service and performs retail operation
functions for the town’s retail liquor stores. This position is limited to a maximum average of 30
hours per week.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
Under the direction and supervision of Store Leadership, this position performs sales, clerical and
manual work in a store operated by the Youngsville Board of Alcoholic Beverage Control. This
includes all responsibilities related to the customers experience, including but not limited to,
selling, accounting for merchandise, customer assistance, stock replenishment, and general record
keeping. The major expectations of this position are to uphold established standards prescribed for
personal conduct and handling of job tasks and activities in order to provide premier customer
service to Youngsville ABC customers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide friendly, positive, and consistent service/support to patrons, vendors, visitors, and
other employees.
• Perform accurate and timely cashier functions, including scanning and entering sales
transactions, basic mathematical computations, making change and handling cash.
• Perform ID checks, as required by NC State Law, on customers and notify management of
violations, concerns, etc.
• Comply with all regulations regarding established procedures, policies, and processes of
the Youngsville ABC organization.
• Replenish stock on shelves and fill sales area with new merchandise.
• Perform periodic inventory of stock on hand.
• Assist customers in selection of various brands of liquors, etc., advise on quantity of
purchases for special occasions, and help customers with carry-out.
• Provide detailed product information and recommendations to customers
• Unload and distribute product from the delivery truck to the designated storage areas as
needed.
• Prepare and process order for Mixed Beverage customers to be picked up or delivered.
• Maintain neat, clean, and organized retail sales area, warehouse space, bathrooms, and
break areas.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION GUIDELINES
Work Environment and Working Conditions
This position may be required to work in a store, mixed beverage, or warehouse and may be
required to travel on occasion using one’s personal vehicle. Ability to lift, up to 50 pounds, is
required.
Minimum Education and Experience
• Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical computations including addition, subtraction,
multiplication, and division.
• Experience in operating a cash register and making change.
• Experience with personal computers.
• Experience in retail sales (preferably retail liquor sales).
• Knowledge of the various brands and the common usage of liquors and merchandise sold
in liquor stores.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Part-time Position: This position is part-time, temporary, and/or seasonal. This means there is no minimum number of scheduled hours, and that the need filled by this position is transient in nature.
