Role Overview
Your After School is hiring dedicated and patient after school enrichment instructors for our Winter (January - March/April) after school programs. We are looking specifically for teachers interested in Science classes - Chemistry, Electricity, Etc. We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic about teaching and possess good classroom management skills while working with grades K-5 in a group setting.
Our dynamic team inspires and engages young minds through a variety of activities (art, sports, academics) so a passion for working with children and a strong background in education is needed. We create the curriculum and provide all materials.
High Level Details
- Programs take place during the school week Monday - Friday after school
- Each program takes place once per week over the cycle
- Each program is 1-1.5 hours long, however we do ask instructors to be available 15 minutes beforehand and stay until most students are dismissed
- Role Type: 1099 Contract, part-time
- Compensation: $100 per day/session, depending on school/district and instructor experience

Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of the Site Director, the Instructor is responsible for the overall operations of the classroom and provides a high quality of education and care for children.
- Facilitating a ~one-hour after-school enrichment program using a pre-set curriculum from YAS. Each session is a high-energy, part entertainment, part education, hands-on class that meets for ~one-hour each week.
- Encourage teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving through structured and free-play activities
- Build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with each child to create a supportive and nurturing environment.
- Supervise activities and manage any conflicts or issues that arise in a constructive manner.
- Address and manage any emotional or behavioral issues with empathy and patience.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.
- Collaborate with other team members and parents to share insights about each child’s progress and needs.
- Communicate with parents and the YAS team as needed to ensure academic needs are being met.
- Maintains the classrooms that each grade level uses, and the community spaces each class uses
- Assists with the process of checking each student into the program, and helps the Site Director with dismissal
- Accepts responsibility for housekeeping duties of the playground, gym, classrooms, and any other space used
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience working with children in a group classroom setting is highly preferred
- Experience working with students in grades K-5 in a group setting is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with teachers, students, and school staff
- Ability to quickly adapt to varying classroom environments, student needs, and instructional approaches
- Dependable and punctual
- Ability to work effectively with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles
- First Aid Certification and CPR Certification preferred, will reimburse
