Senior Data Engineer
Remote in Arkansas / Head office in Little Rock - MUST BE IN ARKANSAS
$165,000 plus benefits
We are seeking an individual at a senior level, with recent experience in modernization tools and cloud computing. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of both on-premises and cloud environments and be capable of selecting the best solutions based on cost, data, and business needs.
The successful Senior Data Engineer should be proficient in designing data transformations from SSIS to cloud solutions using Azure Data Factory. The right candidate will bridge the gap between on-prem and cloud environments, applying DevOps tooling to enhance data and database management across our client's organization.
We are looking for an individual with a collaborative and growth-oriented mindset, excelling both technically and interpersonally, while taking on a leadership role in data management.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Software Engineering, Data Scientists, and Business Intelligence Teams on Data Principles and Data Protection Principles while ensuring the performance, security, and scalability of data sets in both on-prem and cloud environments.
- Develop QA validation checks for teams utilizing scripting methodologies in automation pipelines.
- Optimize ETL performance and scalability across data warehouses, data lakes, on-prem SQL databases, and Azure databases.
- Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- Design and implement data storage solutions for on-prem SQL Servers, Azure SQL on VM, and other Azure cloud data stores.
- Architect on-prem SQL Servers from disk, licensing, network, and OS layers within a VMware host environment.
- Manage the current and future state of the data catalog and advise on innovative technology trends to maintain a competitive advantage.
- Utilize advanced troubleshooting techniques across all aspects of data management.
- Design and develop data structures for online transaction processing (OLTP) and data warehouse (OLAP) databases.
- Support the global metadata data dictionary repository.
- Identify and resolve logical issues between database models and reports.
- Familiarity with ITIL, Agile, SDLC, and DevOps methodologies.
- Willingness to be on-call and collaborate with different teams for data catalog rotations.
- Support database development and requests in MS SQL Server while sourcing from DB2.
Required Education and Experience
- A Bachelor or Master’s degree in computer science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Proven experience in professional data engineering or an equivalent role.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and similar languages.
- Experience working with FinTech databases and organizations.
- Hands-on experience in Azure and cloud solutions.
- Background in supporting Data Scientists or Business Intelligence teams.
- Familiarity with CI/CD environments utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) or Terraform.
- Expertise in ETL toolsets such as SSIS and Azure Data Factory.
- Advanced SQL Data Engineering experience, including performance tuning, query optimization, and monitoring.
- Experience in database administration, security, and backend API databases.
- Strong knowledge of PowerBI or Tableau (preferred).
- Effective communication skills, including facilitation, presentation, and documentation.
- Ability to translate business requirements into functional and data specifications.
- Proficiency in handling large data volumes, data warehouse architecture, multidimensional databases, data lakes, and data migration.
- A DevOps mindset with experience in Infrastructure as Code and DataOps practices.
