REPORTS TO: Shelter Director
STATUS: Part-Time or Full-Time, Hourly
POSTION SUMMARY: Child Care staff are responsible for meeting the needs of residents, taking into account the residents’ ages, physical and mental conditions, and other factors that affect the amount of attention indicated. The Child Care Worker is responsible for implementing the daily living program for all children in the shelter. Child Care Workers are directly accountable to the Shelter Shift Supervisor. Child Care Workers relief personnel or volunteers are accountable to the Child Care Worker on duty.
Under the direction of the Shelter Shift Supervisor and the Shelter Director, the Child Care Worker II assumes additional responsibilities within the recreation program area of the Shelter, which includes the implementation of recreational activities, developing recreational plans and activities for other Child Care Workers, developing weekly and monthly recreation schedules, monitoring all recreational activities, developing and submitting, at least monthly, but more frequently as needed, recreation program reports to the Hope House Management Team, which includes the Shelter Shift Supervisor, the Shelter Director and the Clinical Director.
In the absence of the Shift Supervisor, the Child Care Worker II can also act as the Shift Supervisor on Duty.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Participates with the Hope House Management Team in developing program curriculum and recreational activities for shelter residents;
· Provides supervision of program and leisure time activities of residents, including supervising the recreational and leisure activities provided by Child Care Worker I;
· Provides training and supports to Child Care Worker I in performing approved recreational and leisure time activities;
· Assists Shift Supervisor and Shelter Director in gathering and ensuring all documentation and record keeping for shelter;
· Provides residents with a high level of staff interaction and trauma informed care;
· Provides emergency first aid as needed;
· Performs intake when resident comes to shelter;
· Maintains cleanliness of shelter;
· Prepares meals and snacks during mealtime and snack time, per the pre-approved menu plan;
· Maintains up-to-date case records;
· Supervises volunteers;
· Receives twelve (12) hours of in-service training each fiscal year;
· Maintains current first aid and CPR certification;
· Is knowledgeable of the Policy & Procedure Manual;
· Conducts shift change staffing;
· 24-Hour supervision of residents;
· Attends staff meetings;
· Aides and support residents in performing chores;
· All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Child Care staff must possess adequate education, training, and experience to perform the essential functions of the position.
· Must be 21 years of age or older;
· CPR/First Aid Certified (will be provided during training);
· Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Child Development, Education or related field is required for the Child Care II position
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
