What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Education Specialist/TSET position at Youth and Family Services?
Youth & Family Services is looking for a Community Education Specialist serves as a member of the clinical team with the primary responsibility of providing group services based on the TSET Healthy Kids curriculum. This position reports to the Clinical Coordinator and Community Programs Director.
This position will provide engagement and support to youth and develop, plan, and promote programming, activities, and events that will align with the overall TSET Healthy Futures strategies outlined by the Oklahoma Association of Youth Services Healthy Kids/Healthy Communities Initiative. The Initiative utilizes Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets as its general framework but also includes:
1. A primary focus on eligible youth between third and eighth grade
2. Healthy lifestyles and activity
3. Tobacco prevention/cessation
4. Making positive life choices now that will positively impact the participant’s future
Minimum Qualifications Include:
· Experience completing comprehensive intakes
· Ability to effectively speak in small or large-group settings
· Experience providing referral, advocacy, and case management services
· BA Preferred or equivalent work experience
· Computer skills required
· Ability to communicate in writing and verbally by writing reports and business correspondence and speaking effectively before individuals and public groups.
· Ability to interview; conduct community outreach or education in community-based organizations; and communicate effectively with diverse populations, including school personnel, service providers, law enforcement, and parents of participants
· Ability to utilize time management techniques to organize and prioritize work
· Ability to be flexible and adapt to programming change.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $37,000.00 - $39,000.00 per year
