Youth Collaboratory is taking applications for an Associate Director Preventing Trafficking and Exploitation. As a member of the Liberation training and capacity team, the Associate Director is responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing training and technical assistance activities related to preventing trafficking and exploitation of youth and young adults.

The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $98,000 plus benefits .

Key Responsibilities

Support Youth Collaboratory’s Strategy, Vision, and Leadership

The new Associate Director will engage in the implementation of strategic plans to achieve organizational goals and objectives in support of the organization’s mission. They will support the development of Youth Collaboratory’s Liberation focus area, consistent with the mission and vision of Youth Collaboratory.

Provide Leadership, Team Development, and Mentorship

Using a supportive and collaborative approach, the Associate Director will mentor and develop Training and Capacity Building Managers, Associates, and consultants through supporting individual goal-setting that contributes to overall project and focus area goals, while holding the team accountable for the results. They will promote a team-based culture and will support collaboration across multiple functions of the organization to ensure a coordinated and cohesive approach to Youth Collaboratory’s mission.

Uses Program Expertise in Preventing Trafficking and Exploitation to Propel Focus Area

The Associate Director will have a wide range of expertise in areas of human trafficking and exploitation, including the management, design, implementation, and evaluation of multi-faceted training and technical assistance activities. The Associate Director will lead federal and private grant activities; coordinate, supervise, and approve of subject matter experts (SME); provide input and support to various funding efforts that ensure Youth House Justice programing efforts. As a Youth Collaboratory staff member, they will promote effective partnerships and represent the organization within national, state, and local networks.

  • Awareness of the root causes of exploitation and trafficking and steadfast drive to center youth and communities placed at highest risk for human trafficking including Black girls and gender non-conforming, Indigenous, and, LGBTQ youth, and youth with intersectional identities. Belief that human trafficking and exploitation of youth is preventable. You hold a transformative vision for the future while delivering services and support in the current reality that push the limits of what’s possible.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational abilities, including strategic thinking, development of others, and consistent goal setting and accountability.
  • Ability to clearly communicate what works and what doesn’t with the ability to take complicated issues and break them down into everyday language.
  • Possesses an entrepreneurial acumen and insatiable appetite for learning. Someone who is constantly exploring why things work (or don’t) and are excited to iterate and learn with data (qualitative and quantitative).
  • Has strong project management experience with demonstrated success in innovating solutions to increase productivity and program effectiveness.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with demonstrated success working with diverse stake holders and fostering collective leadership within and across collaborators.
  • Ability to travel 30% of the time to participate in TTA and / or to attend meetings, conferences, and events.
  • Experience

  • Minimum of seven years of professional experience in a social service, intermediary, or similar nonprofit organization, with two years of program management experience required. Statewide, regional, or national experience in the youth services strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a leadership role managing federally funded initiatives is required.
  • Experience providing training and technical assistance strongly preferred.
  • Strong project management experience involving multifaceted projects with the ability to achieve objectives and deliverables on time.
  • Strong mentoring, coaching, and supervision of a team with diverse levels of expertise, helping them to elevate their experience and performance towards a common goal. Experience with remote supervision a plus.
  • Experience in creating resources, practice tools, and / or research documents that encompass proven and emerging best practice techniques and approaches.
  • Experience working in partnership with youth and young adults with lived expertise preferred.
  • Experience working with, and in support of Black girls, women and gender non-conforming individuals impacted by human trafficking.
  • Experience preparing programmatic reports including data analysis (qualitative and quantitative) and CQI.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred.
