What are the responsibilities and job description for the DSP (Direct Support Professional) position at Youth Consultation Service?
Cooper Crossing is a transitional group residence homes for high-risk boys and girls ages 5 -16 with behavioral challenges and mental health disorders.
We are seeking flexible days and hours for our program.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Supervise, organize, and support recreational and/or socialization activities
- Play an active role in leading the milieu staff through youth’s structured routine while collaborating with youth’s case manager, clinician, and prescriber
- Engage and interact with youth based on behavioral intervention plans
- Maintain a clean, safe environment
- Observing, documenting, and acknowledging positive behaviors
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor level degree in a related social service field (Psychology, Sociology, Education, Public Health etc.), Psychology preferred. Preference to those interested in enrolling in an MSW program, to achieve growth within the agency.
High school diploma requires 3 years or more working with youth in a behavioral or group setting.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Schedule: Weekdays or Weekends (Flexible days)
Coopers Crossing is a program of Youth Consultation Service (YCS), which is a behavioral health and social services agency that has been caring for at risk children and families since 1918 in therapeutic residences, special education schools, in-home and in-community programs throughout NJ.

Education:
- High school or equivalent (Required)
Experience:
- Group home or Residential facility: 3 years (Preferred)
- Working as a peer counselor, youth group or mentor/tutor: 3 years (Required)
- Working with youth in a group or behavioral setting: 3 years (Required)
- Volunteer work with youth in any professional capacity.: 3 years (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- Driver's License (Required)
