Job description
Are you looking for a part-time, in-person job? How would you like to teach basic robotics, engineering, sewing, or other topics to children and get paid for it? We provide all lesson plans and teaching materials.
We are hiring for the following positions:
- LEGO teacher - Teach students engineering basics using LEGO projects the students build themselves.
- Chess - Teach this game of kings and queens to beginning and intermediate players.
- Fencing - Do you have experience with the Olympic sport of fencing?
- Robotics - Teach students how to build a robot and then make it work using basic code.
- Sewing - Students make a swimsuit cover-up, a mini messenger bag, and more.
- Science - Students make a volcano, lava lamp, hover craft, and more.
- Woodworking - Students make a trophy case, paddle boat, and more.
Youth Enrichment League's mission is to engage youth to think, learn, and play well! We partner with local communities to offer children, primarily in grades K-8, a variety of enrichment opportunities, i.e. chess, LEGOs, Fencing, and more.
BENEFITS:
- Paid training at $15 per hour. Some classes will pay for the teacher to do self-guided training as well as our initial training. Self-guided training is paid as well.
- This position allows you to gain experience in teaching kids and offers insight into a possible career path.
- You will be paid $5 for arriving 15 minutes early to class.
- You will receive a gas stipend for classes that take place 15 or more miles, one-way, from your home.
- Instructors are provided with all the supplies they need to flourish in an after-school setting. Supplies vary based on the subject. At a minimum, instructors should be able to lift 15 lbs in and out of their car.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPECTATIONS:
- Experience working with children is preferred. Experience examples include: youth summer camps, youth coaching, Sunday School instruction, babysitting, having children of your own, etc.
- Familiarity with the subject you are interested in (i.e., chess experience if applying for chess or sewing experience if applying for sewing).
- Availability during weekdays in the mornings until early afternoon June-August
- A reliable vehicle.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to transport and store supplies.
