Job Description
The Secondary Instructor position at YOUTH FOR TOMORROW NEW LIFE CENTER INC involves teaching English to non-native speakers using a variety of methods. You will plan instruction to meet individual and group needs, assess student progress through pre and post assessments, and maintain accurate records. Additionally, you will provide healthy and appropriate role modeling, work closely with the School Principal and other staff members to ensure the Education program remains successful, and keep fellow Teachers, Residential staff, Therapists, and Case Managers informed of student's progress.
Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with emphasis on secondary education, certification by the Virginia State Department of Education, and knowledge in the field of instruction. You should also have skills and abilities to positively interact with students, maintain discipline, and promote a positive learning environment. Furthermore, you must be able to maintain all required documentation and effectively challenge, nurture and develop the educational abilities of at-risk youth in a residential setting.
Working Conditions
This is a full-time position with a year-round school calendar. You will be required to attend training sessions, maintain current CPR/First Aid certification, Handle with Care certification, and annual TB test/screening. We provide a supportive and collaborative work environment, with regular feedback and coaching to help you grow in your career.
