Youth For Tomorrow is a 501 (c) (3) and a faith based, non-profit organization, founded in 1986 by Hall of Fame Football Coach Joe Gibbs. The organization is large, diverse, experienced and committed to serving at-risk youth.

Role & Responsibilities

• Conduct both process groups and topical psychoeducation groups in each assigned home.
• Lead discussions on various topics such as stress management, self-esteem, communication skills, grief, coping skills, anger management, and boundaries.
• Guide both staff and residents on how to effectively conduct group sessions.
• Explain the benefits of group processes in problem-solving, developing healthy communication, team building, and fostering a positive peer culture.
• Observe and manage group interactions to maintain a positive and respectful atmosphere.
• Facilitate mediation groups as needed to address conflicts among house members.
• Document group sessions for each child in their Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Read "The Search for Significance" and be prepared to teach the Four False Beliefs on a rotating basis.
• Use the Forward Focused Model workbook to incorporate the stage system into groups.
• Regularly meet with residential staff to explore current needs of the home and discuss potential group topics.
• Participate in weekly treatment team meetings to coordinate care and support for residents.
• All duties and responsibilities will support meeting the structured program of care outlined in DBHDS and DSS state standards (DBHDS: 12VAC 35-46-800; DSS: 22 VAC 40-151-720).
• Other duties as assigned by the CEO or Vice President of Residential Services.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, education, or a related field preferred.
• Additional training or certification in group facilitation or therapeutic techniques is preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with adolescents in a group or classroom setting.
• Experience in conducting therapeutic or psychoeducational groups is highly desirable.
