Job Title: Parent Aide

FLSA Status: Part-Time – Non-Exempt
Pay: $27 - $30 an hour

Work Schedule: 20-25 hours per week, evening and weekend work required as needed. Flexible schedule as determined by the needs and schedules of the families served.
Parent Aide Job Summary:
The goals of the Youth Guidance Parent Aide program are to: Assure child safety; improve parenting skills; and improve problem-solving skills. The Parent Aide is responsible for working collaboratively with parents and guardians to implement an evidence-based, in-home case management program. The Parent Aide must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The individual must have prior experience working with families and children with limited resources in a case management setting.
Parent Aide Responsibilities
- Maintain a caseload of 10-15 families who are currently enrolled in the Youth Guidance Afterschool and Summer Program.
- Conduct weekly home visits for families who sign up for the program.
- Deliver the Nurturing Parenting curriculum and assessments to families.
- Assist adult family members in improving parenting skills and decision-making.
- Refer parents and guardians to appropriate community resources based on their needs.
- Guide adult family members in filling out a comprehensive family plan.
- Assist families in setting realistic goals and developing strategies to achieve them.
- Track client information accurately and maintain physical files in a secure location that complies with state and federal regulations.
Parent Aide Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field required, Master’s degree preferred
- Prior case management experience required
- Excellent computer skills, including using Microsoft Office and online databases
- Valid Florida driver’s license, proof of insurance and reliable transportation
- Attention to detail and interpersonal skills
- Sensitive to needs of low-income families
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Both office and field work are required for this position.
Ability to travel to and participate in Youth Guidance activities and events.
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Travel to clients’ homes and off-site meetings in Indian River County.
