General Summary:
This position works under the direction of the Unit Manager. Provides care and supervision to patient groups, meeting safety and health needs of patients. Functions as a positive role model to patients and as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team. Responsible for the overall monitoring of house or classroom systems. This is a safety sensitive position.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervises patients providing a safe, secure and positive environment where patient’s physical and socio-emotional needs are met.
- Provides structure as demonstrated by adhering to agency schedules and providing schedules for patients.
- Instructs patients in problem solving, communication, socialization, emotional, educational, and life management skills.
- Maintains professional boundaries at all times.
- Transports patients safely, and in accordance with agency policies, in agency vehicle as needed.
- Coordinates and documents all information regarding patient behavior, level of functions, emotional status and current team member interventions. Completes all documentation before the end of shift.
- Ensures that the patients are monitored at all times and maintains appropriate staff-to-patient ratio (both on campus and on appointments).
- Completes any additional duties assigned by Unit Manager.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong written and verbal skills; ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, patients, licensed associates and the general public
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Basic understanding of calculation of figures
Work Experience &/or Education:
High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred. Experience with emotionally disturbed youth preferred. Good driving skills and a valid Arkansas drivers’ license and eligibility for agency insurance required. Paraprofessional certification is required within 30-90 days of employment with training provided on site. Must be 21 years of age or older.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Team members are required to sit, stand, talk, see, walk and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to personally restrain patients. Must maintain a current tuberculosis skin test. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
