Summary of Position
The successful Youth Ambassador candidate will assist in the creative implementation of OVA's summer program curriculum focused on diversity, arts, and enrichment. In collaboration with families, community partners, and OVA staff, the Summer Camp Youth Ambassador will work alongside the leadership team to achieve programmatic goals that support the holistic wellness of historically marginalized youth.
Qualifications:
- Experience in youth program management and familiarity with safety policies and best practices.
- Evidence of a clean criminal history acceptable for working with children by State/Federal law.
- Dependable, consistent, and committed to fulfilling a minimum of one summer session.
- Experience working effectively to improve youth academic, personal, and social outcomes.
- A willingness to adhere to all agency policies and procedures with integrity.
Responsibilities:
- Community Outreach: Assist in recruiting and retaining staff, volunteers, teen interns, families, partners, and youth through neighborhood outreach, volunteer fairs, community events, and online media campaigns.
- Program Development & Implementation: Collaborate in designing and delivering creative curriculum, fun activities, and data collection.
- Oversight & Management: Work with the camp leadership team to ensure curriculum implementation, student engagement, and a safe learning environment. Support program staff, manage space, inventory, and assist with budgeting as needed.
- Individual Student Support: Address student needs to help meet objectives and benchmarks for academic, personal, and social growth.
- Goal Setting: Ensure each student has the mentorship, tutoring, and social skills training needed to develop long-term goals.
- Holistic Approach: Help students navigate challenges and develop positive perspectives.
- Encouragement & Support: Reinforce positive behavior and provide ongoing encouragement as students progress.
- Marketing & Engagement: Assist in creating content for newsletters, websites, and social media. Support special events like student showcases and community service projects.
- Excellence & Impact: Promote the importance of education as it relates to academic success, personal development, and quality of life.

Job Type: Contract
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 – 30 per week

- Monday to Friday
