What are the responsibilities and job description for the YOC-MCS Therapeutic Day School Behaviorist position at Youth Opportunity Center, Inc.?
POSITION SUMMARY
The YOC-MCS Therapeutic Day School Behaviorist is responsible for providing behavioral interventions and support to students in grades 3-8 in a therapeutic day school program. The Behaviorist will work with students to develop and implement behavior plans, provide social skills instruction, and consult with parents and staff on behavior management strategies. Working in tandem with Muncie Community Schools teacher and the rest of the team to provide quality treatment services for the students is of utmost importance.
PRIMARY JOB EXPECTATIONS
- Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) to identify the antecedents and consequences of challenging behaviors
- Develop and implement Behavior Support Plan (BSP) that are individualized to each student's needs
- Provide instruction to students in Social- Emotional Learning (SEL) skills encompassing all areas of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, social management, and responsible decision making
- Consult with parents and staff on behavior management strategies
- Monitor student progress and adjust Behavior Support Plans as needed
- Maintain accurate records of student progress
- Participate in professional development activities to stay up-to-date on the latest research and practices in behavior management
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE NEEDED
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or a related field
Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) preferred
Experience with writing Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Support Plans (BSP) required

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS NEEDED
- 2 years of experience working with children and adolescents with behavioral challenges
- Strong knowledge of behavior management principles and techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work with students, parents, and staff from diverse backgrounds
WORKING CONDITIONS
Typical work week is Monday-Friday 40 hours. Scheduled days and times of school operations will follow the Muncie Community Schools calendar and also incorporate a 4-week summer session. Other summer hours are flexible and will incorporate preparations for the next school year. This position will have regular contact with teachers and staff. Position will also have contact with parents/guardians and home school personnel by phone, videoconference, or in person. Courtesy and professionalism at all times.
Compensation
This position is full-time, and compensation includes a competitive salary and benefits plan.
