Key Responsibilities:
The Clinical Assistant provides support to the clinical staff of the residential program, youth served by the program and their families. At all times, the Clinical Assistant shall perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the mission and core values of Youth Opportunity Investments and shall comply with all facility policies and procedures, accreditation guidelines as well as federal, state, and local regulations.
- Intake assignment and case preparation (review, chart set up, coordination of youth admission)
- Perform administrative duties including but not limited to updating youth case files, monitoring files for compliance, updating information technology, etc.
- Facilitate completion of the clinical intake packet, assigned paperwork and intake call with family.
- Create Treatment Team Schedules and schedule Child and Family Team Meeting(s)
- Participate in treatment team, child/family team meetings, juvenile court hearings, foster care review and other related meetings as assigned.
- Send out notifications, Monthly Summaries, Treatment Team Invitations and Progress Reports
- Schedule and complete Home Pass paperwork
- Conduct youth telephone calls weekly and coordination of visitation. •Update and send out respective program roster(s)
- Interdisciplinary communication of youth needs (medical, transportation, dietary, etc.)
- Assists with case coordination, referrals, requests, and linkage with community resources as needed for youth and families.
- Attend and represent as indicated (community meetings, court appearances, clinical department meetings, family day, special events, etc.)
- Ensure notifications and communication on assigned caseloads and respite youth.
Other Duties Include:
- Maintain a high standard of role model behavior for youth.
- Participate in training and development activities as required.
- Report any acts, incidents or conditions that reflect the possibility of inappropriate youth-to-youth or staff-to-youth relationships.
- Report any use of physical force and all unusual incidents per guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Requirements:
Education: Requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in the field of behavioral sciences or individual with a master’s degree who is on a licensure track and under the supervision of a licensed practitioner.
Experience: Two years’ experience working with children with serious emotional disturbances or substance abuse problems. If the candidate has a masters’ degree in an appropriate field, the experience requirement is preferred, but not required. Experience with group work techniques is a plus.
Skills: A sound understanding of group leadership, group dynamics, and experiential education. Advanced oral and written communication skills
Physical Demands: Must be in good physical health and emotionally stable. Must be able to move about the property. Must be able to participate in youth activities. Must be able to transport youth or staff. Must be free of communicable diseases as defined by the state and to the extent that data is attainable under the law. Must be able to pass evaluation of physical techniques and written certification exam.
Other: Must maintain an appropriate and valid state driver’s license. Must meet state criminal background check requirements. Must be able to occasionally work irregular hours.
